Smart Table of Contents Privacy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Smart Table of Contents app ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when installed on a Shopify store.
What the App does
Smart Table of Contents automatically generates a Table of Contents on blog article pages by reading the article's headings (H2, H3, H4) directly in the visitor's browser. The TOC is rendered client-side from content that is already visible on the page.
Data we collect
None. The App does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal information from store owners, visitors, or customers. It does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or any third-party services.
Data Shopify stores on your behalf
When you configure the App in your theme editor, Shopify saves your appearance and behavior preferences (for example: TOC title, border color, heading levels, layout settings) within your theme. These preferences are stored entirely within your Shopify store; the App developer does not access, receive, or process them.
Third-party services
The App does not communicate with any external servers, APIs, or third-party services. All processing happens locally in the visitor's web browser.
Cookies
The App does not set, read, or share any cookies.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from any user, regardless of age.
Data retention
Because the App does not collect data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Your theme settings remain within your Shopify store and are managed by you through the theme editor at any time.
GDPR and user rights
As the App does not collect or process personal data, the rights granted under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection) do not generate any user-specific records on our side. Any data stored within your Shopify store is governed by your store's own privacy policy and Shopify's data handling practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
